First steps of the research journey

We are thrilled to share an update on our research journey as we take the first steps towards unraveling the complexities of dating and relationships. We are currently finalizing our research design and completing our Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol for our study. Our research study will examine the preferences, attitudes, and experiences of young adults in urban India on romantic relationships and love versus arranged marriages. By delving into this multifaceted topic, we aim to understand the factors influencing relationship choices and the societal norms that underlie them.

As we prepare to embark on this research endeavor, we are meticulously finalizing our research design to ensure its effectiveness and validity. We are designing survey questionnaires that strike the balance between eliciting insightful responses and respecting the sensitivity of the topic. Our focus is to create a safe environment for participants, allowing them to freely express their thoughts and experiences while safeguarding their privacy and confidentiality.

The ethical considerations of our research are of utmost importance. We are dedicated to maintaining participant well-being. To ensure that our study aligns with established ethical guidelines, we are in the process of writing our IRB protocol. This detailed document outlines our research procedures, data collection methods, and participant safeguards. We are working closely with the IRB to address any concerns and refine our approach.

As we work towards finalizing our research design, fine-tuning our questionnaires, and obtaining IRB approval, we are excited about the next chapter of our study. We anticipate the opportunity to travel to India and implement our research, engaging with the community of young adults in urban areas. Through our collective efforts, we strive to deepen our understanding of relationship choices and contribute to the development of interventions, policies, and educational programs that foster healthier and more fulfilling connections.
